The New Galactic Empire
Officially "Eclipse Empire" by treaty — commonly New Galactic Empire. Protagonist faction. Competent, reformist, accountable, owns its sins.
History — From Chaos to Order
After Endor (4 ABY) Old Empire collapses. Warlords, Moffs claim throne, fail. Grand Moffs find heir: Alexandia — biological daughter of Palpatine, half-Mandalorian on her mother's side, safe aboard Super Star Destroyer Eclipse. Her mother was Caera Kryze — a Mandalorian Protector of House Kryze, taken for Palpatine's Strand-Cast line as genetic donor for resilience and physical stability. Alexandia was lab-engineered but carried openly as daughter of Palpatine and a Mandalorian, raised in secret aboard Eclipse. Gains military backing within months — Mandalorian clans who learn her lineage answer first. Five years re-unification wars — brutal but short. By 10 ABY (NI 0) accession guaranteed.
10 ABY / NI 0: Alexandia assumes mantle Conservatrix Imperialis (not Empress by title yet — The Charter forbids "Emperor"). First two acts redefine Empire:
- Creates Imperial Senate — representative, not Old Senate cosplay. Moffs, member worlds, New Alderaan later. Publishes timetables, budgets on HoloNet.
- Outlaws Jedi/Sith religious conditioning — penalty Death + forfeiture of all assets for running school/temple/academy or training student/Padawan/apprentice.
Official goal: Order, Justice, Prosperity, Safety, Stability. Dignity for all beings. Worlds voluntarily enter seeking aid that actually arrives — not skimmed by crime.
The Resettlement of Mandalore — NI 2 to NI 6
Old Empire left Mandalore dead — not from bombardment alone, but from what came after: Imperial weather-modification satellites kept the glass storms cycling, and murder drones — automated Basilisk-derivatives, old Separatist holdovers re-tasked, Imperial interdictor mines — patrolled the dome ruins. The Purge was meant to make Mandalore uninhabitable forever.
NI 2 / ABY 12: Delegations of Clan Kryze, Clan Vizsla, and Children of the Watch approach Galactic Star. They ask Alexandia specifically — half-Mandalorian, daughter of Caera Kryze — for help. She answers personally, in Mando'a on open HoloNet: "Su cuy'gar, verde. Gar morut'yc." You're still standing, warriors. Hold a little longer.
NGE Operation HOMEWARD (Kote) begins:
- NGE Navy strips the weather net — three Imperial atmospheric control platforms in low orbit, torn apart by Star Destroyer tractor crews under fighter cover.
- NGE combat engineers and Mandalorian war-clans clear the drone shell — 2,400+ autonomous kill vehicles disabled in surface sweeps, boarding actions, and ion barrages, then dumped into Mandalore's moon Concordia for salvage.
- Army Engineers + Mandalorian welders re-seal Sundari dome, Keldabe, and three new settlements, break the glass and reseed.
NI 6 / ABY 16: Sundari re-opens. ~3 million Mandalorians return from exile. Not all stay — Death Watch splinters refuse Imperial law — but the majority swear Mandalore to the Empire. Bo-Katan Kryze retakes the Darksaber during the clearance of Sundari and is recognized as Mand'alor again.
Today NI 24: Mandalore is an autonomous principality of the NGE, same legal status as New Alderaan. Keeps own culture, Mandalorian law inside domes, armor traditions, and language. Sends two Senators — one traditional (Kryze), one new (Vizsla/Mercs). Provides Mandalorian Protectors as auxilia to the Great White Fleet — white plates with grey trim. Bo-Katan Kryze holds the Darksaber, recognized again as Mand'alor. In theory anyone could challenge her per tradition. In practice no one does — not just because she is Bo-Katan, but because she is kin to the Empress (Caera’s clan), and the Empress is a full Imperial Knight with the entire Empire behind her. Challenging Bo is seen as challenging Alexandia herself. Players can be Mandalorian humans: any class, start with beskar’gam if you take Mandalorian Legacy, or as foundling culture.
The Empress Is A Force User — And A Knight Herself
Alexandia is strong — Palpatine's daughter and Caera's stubbornness in one body. She can feel it, use light and dark as tools, rejects both names. Watched holo-logs: what father became — hollowed by power, unable to stop. Also watched Jedi records: Dooku (Jedi Master → Sith Lord), Anakin (Chosen One → Vader → murdered children). Same failure: absolute belief you're right.
So she forces neutral path and lives it. Trains daily in balance, never takes Darth name, never preaches non-attachment. Knows she could become father in 20 years if she indulges.
She didn't just create the Knights — she signed the same Instrument. She is a full Imperial Knight herself, tattooed, screened, and accountable. Publicly: first Knight, oath number 0001, "DUTY OVER POWER" across her back under the robes. Legally she is not property of herself — the Charter can't own the sovereign — but she voluntarily submits to 2 rotating Inquisitors, weekly audits, and the same kill-clause she wrote for everyone else.
That's why Mandalorians don't challenge Bo-Katan for the Darksaber even though tradition allows it. Bo is Kryze, kin to Caera, and the Empress is half-Kryze. Some whisper Bo holds the saber only because Alexandia allows it — and crossing Bo would mean facing the Empress herself, a trained Imperial Knight with the entire NGE behind her. No clan wants that attention.
- Lab-screened succession — Imperial law requires genetic screening for hereditary rule. Publicly described as medical precaution.
- Imperial Knights as property — Force users who petition to serve become legal property of the Empire. Publicly registered, tattooed, accountable. The Empress took the same tattoo.
- Demands 2 Inquisitors + Knights can kill her — she wrote the clause herself, and lives under it.
Laws
| Law | Penalty | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Jedi/Sith School / Temple / Training a Student | Death + forfeiture | Blame religion, not individuals. Laying training at feet of Jedi/Sith conditioning that produced Palpatine, Dooku, Vader. |
| Unregistered Force Practitioner, secret holocron, enclave | Death + forfeiture | Registered Jedi legal (see below) |
| Sith artifacts / bleeding, preaching Force religion as absolute truth | Death + forfeiture | |
| Registered Jedi (Leia's Law NI 5) | Legal if compliant | Register as "Force Practitioner — Jedi Tradition", renounce students, no temples (1 per sector), submit to Inquisitor audits monthly/quarterly unannounced, carry card, report harmful Force use, can keep saber. Many old Jedi complied — hermits/healers/mechanics/farmers. |
| Official Corruption | Death + forfeiture | Same as Force religious crime. Actually enforced — unlike NR. That's why worlds join. |
| Calling self Emperor | Warlord / illegitimate | Galactic Charter forbids. There is only Conservatrix / Empress. |

Why "Eclipse Empire" But Called NGE?
Eclipse Treaty Section 1: "New Republic Recognizes the Eclipse Empire as successor to First Galactic Empire." Named after flagship Eclipse where Alexandia was found, to avoid "Galactic Empire" branding. Street name stayed New Galactic Empire because that's what people called re-unified Empire vs New Republic. Both correct.
Doctrine — Feel Everything, Controlled Only By Corruption
See Grey Knights & Inquisitors. Knights allow love, marriage, kids, anger, fear — opposite Jedi suppression. ONE rule: if corrupted they kill you, then mourn you. Inquisitors check training, logs, behavior weekly.
